A Message From Kenneth

Dear Friends

Here are few YouTube images from new Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon; we celebrated for the first time on the 5thof September 2010.

Catamaran Buoy

The distance was swim 1.9k, bike 90k and run 21.1k. This is the half of the Ironman distance.

The swim was in Puerto del Carmen, we used 2 big catamarans boats as corner buoys, it was like Hawaii Ironman swim course or even better.

The bike ride was going through the wine area of La Geria, El Golfo and over Femes, where the athlete was cycling up with the steepest hill with more the 22% incline, only 12 people was walking up, the athlete also have the pleasure to ride up over the Timanfaya National park, 60% of the bike course was going through the lava fields.

Spectators

The run was 3 loops run inside Puerto del Carmen, before the reach the finish line.

Here you see the top of the Femes where the athlete has the steepest climb of the day.

Ocean Lava 2010 Video

Many thanks to Mark Bennett for his brilliant 15 minute video of the Ocean Lava Triathlon in Lanzarote taken at the weekend.

Did you spot the water bottle struggle by 127 (Andres from CT Costa Teguise)?

Cyclist 122 (Rayco) walking up Femés?

The funny face from 103 (Antonio from Tridente Tinajo) in Maciot?

The pale white tourist in Puerto del Carmen slapping on his sun cream?

Bert overtaking Anna Lis at speed on the marathon?

And three of our volunteers Kim, Tracy and Sarah at the end!

This video was played at the awards dinner on Sunday and was well received with some laughs and cheers at the above and more.
